yanelis mora morales graduated from both music (choral direction) and dramatic arts in havana, cuba. since then, her career has taken a completely new direction: the visual arts. yanelis depicts a world of harmony with work largely based on a patchwork technique called foundation paper piecing. the textiles she creates are inspired by an aerial perspective, an extraordinary type of map. this year, during the arco fair in madrid, yanelis made her debut in the collective exhibition of cartographies of the spirit, curated by the artist carlos garaicoa. next year, she will open her first personal exhibition in spain, displaying two series on which she has been working intensively. these exquisite creations give us a birdseye view of the world as seen by this talented young woman.
